The Hungering Portal
The End portal doesn’t simply open anymore — it hungers. Even lit with twelve eyes of ender, it won’t take anyone: it must be fed a ritual of rare offerings, thrown into the portal itself and witnessed by a gathering of players. Only then does the way open… to a far deadlier End.
Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”- Minecraft 26.2 or 26.1.2, Fabric with Fabric API
- Works installed on the server alone (clients can be vanilla); install on clients too for the config screen.
Download
Section titled “Download”The ritual
Section titled “The ritual”Bring the portal what it craves and throw each offering into the lit portal:
- A Trident, a Netherite Block, a Sniffer Egg, an Enchanted Golden Apple
- A Totem of Undying, a Beacon, a Mace
- Sixteen Wither Roses, a Conduit, and a Zombie Head
With every offering placed and enough players present as witnesses, the portal opens — world-wide, permanently. Stall too long between offerings and it grows impatient, returning everything thrown to whoever threw it.
Tracking the ritual
Section titled “Tracking the ritual”The mod adds its own advancement tab, so the checklist is in the game rather than in a wiki. The root unlocks the moment you join — you see what the portal wants from the start, not once you stumble onto your first offering.
Each of the ten offerings is its own advancement, carrying the ritual’s flavour text plus a hint about where to actually find the thing. The four that gate on a boss or a rare structure — the Netherite Block, Beacon, Mace and sixteen Wither Roses — are challenge advancements; the rest are goals.
If you also run VanillaSkills, these pay out: it counts this mod’s advancements when awarding Skill Shards, so working through the ritual feeds your skill tree. Worth 320 Skill Shards at default rates. Neither mod requires the other.
A harder End
Section titled “A harder End”Beyond the portal waits a reworked, multi-phase Ender Dragon — five phases with crystal-fueled revivals that turn the old victory lap into a real test for the group that opened the way. (The End fight is derived from RogueCraft, CC BY-SA — credit to MonoCode.)
Details
Section titled “Details”- The number of players required to open the portal is server-configurable, with an in-game config screen for operators.
- Ships as a datapack-in-jar plus a mixin that suppresses the vanilla fight, so nothing double-triggers.
- Fully localized per player from the server side, so even vanilla clients read it in their own language. English and Traditional Chinese are both complete.
